  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 0.33 cup crushed peppermint candies
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using) until combined. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Add the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract to the butter mixture. Beat until fully incorporated, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
