Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 0.5 lb ground pork
  • 0.75 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 whole large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and black pepper.

Step 2

Mix the ingredients gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix to avoid tough meatballs.

Step 3

Using your hands or a cookie scoop, shape the meat mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs (about the size of a ping pong ball). Place them on a large plate or sheet pan.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 5

Working in batches if necessary, add the meatballs to the skillet. Sear them on all sides until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Be gentle when turning them to prevent breaking.

Step 6

Once all the meatballs are browned, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 7

At this point, the meatballs can be finished cooking in your favorite marinara sauce. Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).

Step 8

Serve hot over spaghetti, in a sandwich roll, or as part of a party platter. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley, if desired.
