Ingredients

  • 500 grams Boneless skinless fish fillets (such as cod, haddock, or tilapia)
  • 1 medium Potato, boiled and mashed
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 Egg
  • 100 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 100 ml Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 Lemon wedges, for serving

Directions

Step 1

Begin by poaching the fish. Place the fillets in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring the water to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5-7 minutes or until fish flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Remove the fish from water and let it cool slightly.

Once cooled, use a fork to flake the fish into a mixing bowl.

Add the mashed potato, finely chopped onion, parsley, egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the flaked fish. Mix everything together until well combined.

Shape the mixture into patties, about the size of the palm of your hand. You should be able to make around 8 patties.
