Ingredients

  • 500 grams Boneless chicken thighs
  • 150 grams Plain yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoons Ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 6 pieces Skewers

Directions

Step 1

Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized chunks of about 1.5 inches.

Step 2

In a large bowl, mix the plain yogurt, garlic paste, ginger paste, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, lemon juice, vegetable oil, and salt to form a smooth marinade.

Step 3

Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well to ensure the chicken is thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

Step 4

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning during cooking.

Step 5

Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers, leaving a small gap between each piece for even cooking.

Step 6

Preheat your grill or broiler to medium-high heat. If cooking on a grill, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Place the skewers on the grill or under the broiler and cook for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken pieces are cooked through and have a nice char on the edges.

Step 8

Remove the skewers from the heat and let them rest for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Step 9

Serve the chicken tikka skewers hot with mint chutney, a side of salad, or naan bread.
