Ingredients

  • 1 pound Breakfast sausage
  • 8 Large eggs
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups Day-old bread, cubed
  • 0.5 cup Green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Butter or non-stick cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles with a spoon. Drain any excess grease and set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning until well combined.

Step 4

Add the cubed bread to the bowl with the egg mixture and gently fold to coat the bread evenly.

Step 5

Stir in the cooked sausage, 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped green onions. Mix until distributed evenly.

Step 6

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out into an even layer. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set in the center. A knife inserted into the middle should come out clean.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
