Ingredients

  • 300 grams button mushrooms
  • 200 grams cremini mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 250 grams cream cheese
  • 120 grams sour cream
  • 50 grams Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons dry white wine
  • 1 loaf French baguette or crackers

Directions

Step 1

Clean the button and cremini mushrooms, then finely chop them.

Step 2

Finely dice the yellow onion and mince the garlic cloves.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the unsalted butter and olive oil over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, being careful not to burn it.

Step 6

Add the chopped mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their moisture and it evaporates, about 8-10 minutes.

Step 7

Season the mushroom mixture with salt, ground black pepper, and fresh thyme.

Step 8

Deglaze the skillet with dry white wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom, and cook until the wine evaporates, about 2 minutes.

Step 9

Cut the cream cheese into small chunks and stir it into the mushroom mixture until melted and well combined.

Step 10

Fold in the sour cream and grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until smooth and creamy.

Step 11

Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe dish, preheat the broiler, and broil the dip for 2-3 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.

Step 12

Serve the warm mushroom dip immediately with sliced baguette or crackers on the side.
