Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish with olive oil or non-stick spray and set aside.

Step 2

Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, parmesan cheese, melted butter, salt, and black pepper. Add the cooked spaghetti and toss to coat thoroughly. Press the spaghetti mixture evenly into the greased pie dish to form the crust.

Step 4

In a medium skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 5

Add the ground beef (or Italian sausage) to the skillet. Cook, breaking it into small pieces, until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat if needed.

Step 6

Stir in the marinara sauce, basil, and oregano. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 7

Spread the ricotta cheese evenly over the spaghetti crust. Top with the meat sauce, spreading it in an even layer.

Step 8

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the meat sauce.

Step 9

Place the pie dish on the center rack of the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Step 10

Remove the spaghetti pie from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
