  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 6 ounces dark chocolate (for mousse)
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream (for mousse)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 bar dark chocolate bar (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk to combine.

Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

Reduce the speed to low and carefully add the boiling water. Mix until the batter is smooth (it will be thin).
