Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 whole large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Use clean hands or a sturdy spoon to mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 3

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing it gently to form an even layer.

Step 4

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, dijon mustard, and brown sugar to create the glaze.

Step 5

Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 6

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes.

Step 7

After 45 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining glaze over the top. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of paprika for garnish.

Step 8

Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C), as measured by a meat thermometer.

Step 9

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute for a moist and flavorful result.

Step 10

Slice and serve warm with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
