Ingredients

  • 200 grams cooked salmon (skinless, boneless)
  • 200 grams cream cheese (softened)
  • 60 milliliters heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon dill (fresh, finely chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons gelatin powder
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1 tablespoon capers (optional, for garnish)
  • 0 crackers, toast, or vegetable sticks (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the gelatin by sprinkling the gelatin powder over cold water in a small bowl. Let it bloom for 5 minutes.

Step 2

Once the gelatin has bloomed, gently heat it in the microwave or on the stovetop until fully dissolved, making sure not to boil it. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a food processor, combine the cooked salmon, softened cream cheese, heavy cream, lemon juice, and chopped dill.

Step 4

Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides of the food processor as needed.

Step 5

Stir in the dissolved gelatin and season the mixture with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Blend again briefly to fully incorporate.

Step 6

Transfer the salmon mousse to a serving dish or individual ramekins, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Step 7

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until fully set.

Step 8

Before serving, garnish with capers (if using) and additional dill for a decorative touch.

Step 9

Serve chilled with crackers, toast, or fresh vegetable sticks for dipping.
