Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 0.75 cup Fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon Orange zest
  • 0.25 cup Whole milk
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh orange juice (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest (for garnish, optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter using a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.

Step 5

Mix in the orange juice, orange zest, and milk until combined. The mixture may look a little curdled, which is normal.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in 2-3 batches, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 7

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 8

Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Step 9

Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

While the loaf cools, prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and fresh orange juice until smooth.

Step 11

Once the loaf is completely cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top and garnish with additional orange zest if desired.

Step 12

Slice and serve the orange loaf cake. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
