Ingredients

  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.33 cup Sugar
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.25 cup Butter (melted)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Additional melted butter (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Step 2

In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the milk and melted butter. Heat until warm to the touch but not hot (about 100-110°F).

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg and salt together. Stir in the yeast mixture and the warmed milk-butter mixture.

Step 4

Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a sticky dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic, adding small amounts of flour as needed.

Step 5

Place the dough into a large greased bowl, turning it once to coat the surface with oil. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 6

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a smooth ball and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.

Step 7

Cover the rolls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes until they are doubled in size.

Step 8

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 9

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Step 10

Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter for an added glossy finish and rich flavor.

Step 11

Serve the rolls warm and enjoy!
