Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef (80/20 ratio)
  • 0.5 pound Ground pork
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 cups Marinara sauce
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 4 rolls Sub rolls (8-10 inches)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, softened
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, egg, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, parsley, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 2

Roll the mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs, about 16-18 in total, and place them on a large plate or tray.

Step 3

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Working in batches if necessary, sear the meatballs on all sides until browned, about 6-8 minutes total. They do not need to be fully cooked at this stage.
