Ingredients

  • 200 grams all-purpose flour
  • 200 grams granulated sugar
  • 200 grams unsalted butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 300 grams powdered sugar
  • 150 grams unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
  • 0 as needed yellow and white food coloring

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar using a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy.

Step 3

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, mixing until just combined.

Step 5

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the surfaces with a spatula.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 22-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 7

To prepare the frosting, beat the butter in a large bowl until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating well after each addition.

Step 8

Mix in the milk to reach the desired consistency. Divide the frosting into two portions, tinting one yellow and leaving the other white.

Step 9

Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a layer of yellow frosting on top of one cake layer. Place the second layer on top and apply a crumb coat of white frosting over the entire cake.

Step 10

Use the remaining white frosting to create petal designs on the cake, and the yellow frosting to create the daisy centers. A piping bag with a round tip or star tip works well for this decoration.

Step 11

Chill the cake for 30 minutes to set the frosting before serving. Enjoy!
