Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef or ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs (ensure they are dairy-free)
  • 0.25 cup Unsweetened almond milk (or another plant-based milk)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.25 cup Onion, finely grated
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil (for frying)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, unsweetened almond milk, egg, minced garlic, grated onion, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.

Step 2

Mix the ingredients together gently using your hands or a wooden spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatballs tender.

Step 3

Using your hands, roll the mixture into evenly sized meatballs, about 1-1.5 inches in diameter. Place the meatballs on a plate or baking sheet as you go.

Step 4

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs in a single layer. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.

Step 5

Cook the meatballs for 2-3 minutes on each side, turning carefully with tongs or a spatula, until they are browned all over.

Step 6

Once browned, lower the heat to medium-low and cover the skillet. Continue cooking for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Step 7

Remove the meatballs from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 8

Serve with your favorite dairy-free marinara sauce, over pasta, or as an appetizer with a dipping sauce.
