Ingredients

  • 1 lb salmon fillet
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.75 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 8 pieces corn tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (purple or green)
  • 1 large avocado, sliced
  • 0.5 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 0.25 cup jalapeño slices (optional)
  • 0.5 cup dairy-free crema or mayonnaise alternative
  • 0.5 tsp lime zest
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse and pat the salmon fillet dry. Remove any pin bones and set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, orange juice, minced garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to make the marinade.

Step 3

Place the salmon in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the salmon, making sure it's evenly coated. Let the salmon marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

Step 4

While the salmon marinates, prepare the toppings. Shred the cabbage, slice the avocado, and chop the cilantro. Set aside.

Step 5

Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly grease the grill grates to prevent sticking.

Step 6

Remove the salmon from the marinade and place it on the preheated grill, skin-side down if it has skin. Grill for 4-5 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through.

Step 7

Warm the corn tortillas on the grill for about 30 seconds per side, or until pliable and slightly charred.

Step 8

Using a fork, flake the grilled salmon into bite-sized pieces.

Step 9

To assemble the tacos, place a small handful of shredded cabbage on each tortilla. Top with flaked salmon, avocado slices, chopped cilantro, and jalapeño slices if using.

Step 10

In a small bowl, mix the dairy-free crema or mayonnaise alternative with lime zest and, if desired, hot sauce. Drizzle this over the tacos for extra flavor.

Step 11

Serve immediately and enjoy your zesty, dairy-free grilled salmon tacos!
