Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.75 cup Water
  • 1 cup Cabbage, finely shredded
  • 0.5 cup Carrot, finely grated
  • 0.25 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Cooking oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the water while mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Prepare the filling by heating 1 teaspoon of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté until fragrant.

Step 3

Add the finely shredded cabbage, grated carrot, and chopped onion to the pan. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables soften slightly.

Step 4

Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper, mixing well. Cook for another 1 minute. Remove from heat and let the filling cool completely.

Step 5

Divide the dough into small equal portions and roll each portion into a thin, circular wrapper (approximately 3-4 inches in diameter).

Step 6

Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper. Bring the edges together and pinch them to seal, forming a pleated or crescent-shaped momo.

Step 7

Prepare a steamer by lining the tray with parchment paper or oiling it lightly to prevent sticking. Arrange the momos on the tray without overcrowding.

Step 8

Steam the momos over boiling water for 12-15 minutes, or until the wrapper becomes translucent and the dough is fully cooked.

Step 9

Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as spicy tomato chutney or soy sauce-based dip.
