Ingredients

  • 600 grams Carp fish fillets
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut oil
  • 1 large Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, minced
  • 2 Green chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 2 medium Tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 400 ml Coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 200 ml Water

Directions

Step 1

Begin by cleaning and patting the carp fish fillets dry with a paper towel. Set them aside.

Step 2

Heat the coconut oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in the minced garlic, ginger, and slit green chilies, cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down and the spices are well incorporated.

Step 6

Pour in the coconut milk and water, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 7

Carefully place the carp fish fillets into the pan. Spoon some of the sauce over the fish and cook for 10-12 minutes on medium heat, or until the fish is cooked through and tender.

Step 8

Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and stir gently to avoid breaking the fish pieces.

Step 9

Turn off the heat, drizzle the lemon juice over the curry, and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

Step 10

Serve hot with steamed rice or flatbreads, enjoying the rich, spicy flavors of this dairy-free curry.
