Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rice flour
  • 1.5 cups Warm water
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 tablespoons Oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the rice flour and salt.

Step 2

Gradually add the warm water to the rice flour, mixing slowly with your hands to form a smooth, slightly sticky dough. Adjust the water quantity if needed; the dough should be soft but not too wet.

Step 3

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 10 minutes.

Step 4

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.

Step 5

Lightly flour a clean, flat surface with rice flour. Take one dough ball and flatten it gently with your hands.

Step 6

Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough ball into a circular shape about 6 inches in diameter and approximately 1/4 inch thick. Use more rice flour to prevent sticking, if necessary.

Step 7

Heat a flat non-stick skillet or tawa over medium-high heat.

Step 8

Place the rolled bhakari onto the hot skillet. Cook for about 1-2 minutes or until small bubbles form on the surface.

Step 9

Flip the bhakari and cook the other side. Lightly press down with a kitchen towel or spatula to ensure even cooking and to allow it to puff up slightly.

Step 10

Drizzle a bit of oil around the edges and on top, then flip once more. Cook for an additional minute or until small golden brown spots appear.

Step 11

Remove from heat and keep warm by wrapping in a clean kitchen towel. Repeat with the remaining dough.

Step 12

Serve hot with your favorite curry, vegetables, or chutney.
