Ingredients

  • 500 g All-purpose flour
  • 10 g Salt
  • 5 g Sugar
  • 7 g Instant yeast
  • 60 ml Olive oil
  • 300 ml Warm water
  • 50 g Coconut oil (solid)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. Mix well to ensure the dry ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Step 2

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the olive oil and about 250 ml of the warm water. Mix gradually with your hand or a spatula, adding the remaining water as needed, until a rough dough forms.

Step 3

Knead the dough for 10 minutes on a lightly floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic. You may need to add a little flour if the dough is too sticky.

Step 4

Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Step 5

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then cover with a damp cloth and let rest for another 15 minutes.

Step 6

On a floured surface, take one dough ball and roll it out into a thin circle, approximately 20 cm in diameter.

Step 7

Lightly spread some solid coconut oil over the surface of the rolled-out dough.

Step 8

Roll the dough circle into a cylinder, then coil it into a spiral resembling a snail shell. Press down gently to flatten slightly, then roll out again into a 15 cm circle. Repeat for all dough pieces.

Step 9

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook each flatbread for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Press down with a spatula to ensure even cooking.

Step 10

Remove the finished flatbread from the skillet and keep it warm in a clean kitchen towel while you cook the remaining flatbreads.

Step 11

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or alongside your meal.
