Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 8 oz Baby bella mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 piece Onion, small and thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp Tamari or soy sauce
  • 4 slices Dairy-free Swiss-style cheese slices
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 piece Tomato, sliced
  • 4 buns Hamburger buns, dairy-free

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill or a stovetop pan to medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well and form into 4 equal-sized patties.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté for about 5 minutes until they start to soften.

Step 4

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet along with the tamari or soy sauce and continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes until the mushrooms are golden brown and the onions are caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 5

Lightly brush each hamburger patty with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to prevent sticking. Place the patties on the grill or pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium. Adjust the time based on your preferred doneness.

Step 6

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of dairy-free Swiss-style cheese on each patty, allowing it to melt slightly.

Step 7

Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in the oven if desired.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a slice of tomato, the hamburger patty with melted cheese, and finally, topping with sautéed mushrooms and onions.

Step 9

Close your burgers with the top bun and serve immediately.
