  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 medium Shallots, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium Carrot, julienned
  • 200 grams Cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 200 grams Tofu, cut into cubes
  • 100 grams Bean sprouts
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 tablespoon Chili sauce
  • 1 Lime, cut into wedges
  • 2 stalks Spring onions, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Boil a pot of water and cook the yellow wheat noodles until just tender. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

Heat the cooking oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic and shallots to the pan, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and slightly golden.

Step 4

Add the julienned carrots and sliced cabbage to the pan, and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until they are softened but still crisp.

Step 5

Push the vegetables to the side of the pan and add the cubed tofu. Stir-fry the tofu until it's golden on all sides.

Step 6

Add the bean sprouts to the mixture and stir to combine everything evenly.

Step 7

Add the cooked noodles to the pan and pour in the soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, and chili sauce. Toss everything together, ensuring that the noodles are well-coated with the sauces.

Step 8

Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, ensuring the noodles are heated through and all ingredients are well combined.

Step 9

Remove from heat, and sprinkle the chopped spring onions over the top.

Step 10

Serve the Mee Goreng hot, with lime wedges on the side for an added splash of freshness.
