Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 tablespoons Water
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 large Eggs
  • 8 ounces Ground beef
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cumin
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 1 cup Water (for sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped parsley

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add water, olive oil, and the egg. Mix until dough begins to form.

Step 2

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Step 3

While the dough is resting, prepare the filling. In a medium bowl, mix the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, black pepper, paprika, and cumin until well combined.

Step 4

After the dough has rested, divide it into four equal pieces. Roll each piece into a thin sheet. Cut the sheet into small squares, approximately 1.5 inches across.

Step 5

Place a small amount of filling in the center of each square, about half a teaspoon. Fold the dough over the filling to form a triangle and press the edges to seal. Alternatively, shape them in traditional manti form by pinching the corners together.

Step 6

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop the manti into the water in batches and cook for about 8-10 minutes, until they float to the top.

Step 7

Meanwhile, to prepare the sauce, heat a sauté pan over medium heat and add the tomato paste. Stir in 1 cup of water and let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add lemon juice and mix well.

Step 8

Drain the cooked manti and place them on a serving platter. Pour the tomato sauce over the dumplings and sprinkle with chopped parsley.

Step 9

Serve warm and enjoy your dairy-free manti.
