Peel the potatoes and carrots and cut them into small cubes, about half an inch in size.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and cook the potatoes for about 12-15 minutes until tender but not falling apart.
In the last 5 minutes of cooking the potatoes, add the cubed carrots to the pot.
