Ingredients

  • 12 ounces dairy-free macaroni pasta
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 7 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Add the drained macaroni to the skillet and toss to coat the pasta with the meat sauce.

Step 8

Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
