Ingredients

  • 500 g Ground meat (beef or lamb)
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup Fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Fresh mint, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Ground allspice
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 0.5 tsp Ground coriander
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 6 Wooden or metal skewers

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat with the finely chopped onion, parsley, and mint.

Step 2

Add in the ground cumin, allspice, paprika, ground coriander, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3

Mix in the olive oil and minced garlic until all ingredients are well combined. You can use your hands for thorough mixing.

Step 4

Take a handful of the meat mixture and shape it around a skewer, forming a long sausage-like shape. Repeat with the remaining meat mixture.

Step 5

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before using to prevent burning.

Step 6

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Step 7

Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 7-8 minutes on each side or until the meat is fully cooked and has a nice char.

Step 8

Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

Step 9

Serve the kafta with a side of grilled vegetables, rice, or flatbread.
