Ingredients

  • 30 pieces dumpling wrappers
  • 250 grams ground beef or pork
  • 100 grams firm tofu
  • 3 stalks green onion
  • 2 pieces garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 100 grams cabbage
  • 1 piece carrot
  • 50 grams shiitake mushrooms

Directions

Step 1

Start by finely chopping the cabbage, carrot, and shiitake mushrooms.

Step 2

Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel and press to remove excess water. Once dry, crumble it into a mixing bowl.

Step 3

Add the ground meat to the bowl with the crumbled tofu.

Step 4

Mince the garlic cloves and grate the ginger, then add both to the mixing bowl.

Step 5

Thinly slice the green onions and add them to the bowl.

Step 6

Add the chopped cabbage, carrot, and shiitake mushrooms into the mixture.

Step 7

Season the mixture with soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly with your hands until well combined.

Step 8

Take one dumpling wrapper and place a little less than a tablespoon of filling in the center.

Step 9

Wet the edges of the wrapper with a bit of water, fold it in half, and press to seal, creating a crescent shape.

Step 10

Continue filling and folding the rest of the dumplings until all the filling is used.

Step 11

Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.

Step 12

Place the dumplings in the skillet, flat side down, and cook for about 3 minutes, until the bottoms are golden brown.

Step 13

Add a splash of water to the pan and cover it with a lid to steam the dumplings for another 4-5 minutes.

Step 14

Remove the lid and continue cooking until all the water has evaporated and the dumplings are crispy on the bottom.

Step 15

Serve the dumplings hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
