Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons Dairy-free ghee
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.75 cups Warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Dairy-free ghee (for cooking)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Mix well.

Step 2

Add the dairy-free ghee to the flour and mix with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 3

Gradually add the warm water, a little at a time, and knead into a soft, smooth dough. You might not need all the water, so add slowly.

Step 4

Cover the dough with a damp kitchen towel and let it rest for at least 15 minutes.

Step 5

After resting, divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a ball.

Step 6

Flatten one dough ball and dust lightly with flour. Use a rolling pin to roll it into a round circle about 6-7 inches in diameter.

Step 7

Heat a non-stick skillet or tawa over medium-high heat.

Step 8

Place the rolled roti on the hot skillet and cook for about 1 minute or until you see bubbles forming on the surface.

Step 9

Flip the roti and cook the other side for another minute. It's ready when light golden brown spots appear.

Step 10

Lightly brush the cooked side with a little dairy-free ghee, then flip again and brush the other side.

Step 11

Press the edges of the roti with a spatula to ensure even cooking, then remove from the skillet.

Step 12

Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.

Step 13

Serve warm with your favorite curry or dish.
