Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup almond milk
  • 1 cup dairy-free chocolate chips
  • 8 ounces dairy-free cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 15x10 inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang on the sides.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs with an electric mixer on high speed until thick and pale, about 2 minutes. Gradually add the sugar and continue beating until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Step 4

Stir in the vanilla extract and almond milk, then gently fold in the dry ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Step 5

Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly to the edges. Gently tap the pan on the counter to remove any air bubbles.

Step 6

Bake the cake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cake springs back when lightly touched in the center.

Step 7

While the cake is baking, prepare a clean kitchen towel and dust it generously with powdered sugar.

Step 8

As soon as the cake comes out of the oven, carefully lift it out of the pan using the parchment paper edges and turn it over onto the sugared towel. Peel off the parchment paper.

Step 9

Starting at one short end, carefully roll the cake with the towel. Place on a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Meanwhile, melt the dairy-free chocolate chips in a microwave or double boiler, then let them cool slightly.

Step 11

In a medium bowl, beat the dairy-free cream cheese until smooth, then add the melted chocolate chips and powdered sugar. Mix until well combined and creamy.

Step 12

Once the cake has cooled, carefully unroll it. Spread the chocolate filling evenly over the surface, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Step 13

Gently re-roll the cake without the towel, using the towel to help guide the roll tightly.

Step 14

Transfer the roll to a serving platter. For best results, chill the cake roll for 30 minutes before slicing to set the filling.

Step 15

Slice and serve your Dairy-Free Deluxe Chocolate Roll, garnished with additional powdered sugar or dairy-free whipped cream, if desired.
