Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef (85% lean)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 4 slices Dairy-free cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 whole Burger buns
  • 4 leaves Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large, sliced Tomato
  • 0.5 medium, sliced Red onion
  • 8 slices Pickles
  • 0.25 cup Ketchup
  • 0.25 cup Mustard

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Step 2

Divide the seasoned meat into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, roughly 3/4 inch thick. Use your thumb to make a shallow indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or stovetop griddle over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates.

Step 4

Place the burger patties on the preheated grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until your desired doneness is achieved. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of dairy-free cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to allow the cheese to melt.

Step 5

While the burgers are cooking, slice the tomato and red onion and set aside.

Step 6

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster oven.

Step 7

To assemble the burgers, spread a tablespoon of ketchup and mustard on the top and bottom buns. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half, followed by a cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, a few rings of red onion, and two slices of pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve the dairy-free burgers immediately, alongside your favorite side dishes like fries or a salad.
