Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan) or 350°F.
In a large bowl, mix the plain flour, ground almonds, icing sugar, and a pinch of salt.
Add the dairy-free margarine into the bowl and rub it into the flour mixture using your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Add the water gradually and mix with a fork until the dough comes together. Form the dough into a ball, wrap in cling film, and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
Roll out the chilled pastry on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch fluted tart tin. Carefully line the tin with the pastry, trimming any excess.
Prick the base of the tart with a fork. Line with baking parchment and fill with baking beans. Blind bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
Remove the parchment and baking beans and bake for another 5 minutes until lightly golden.
Spread the cherry jam evenly over the base of the pastry.
In a separate bowl, cream the dairy-free margarine and caster sugar together until pale and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the almond extract.
Gently fold in the ground almonds until fully combined.
Spread this almond mixture over the cherry jam, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Scatter the flaked almonds over the filling.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and golden brown.
Allow to cool in the tin before removing.
Decorate the tart with glacé cherries and dust with icing sugar before serving.
