Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground beef
  • 250 grams Ground pork
  • 100 grams Dairy-free shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 60 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 60 ml Unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 unit Large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 300 ml Tomato sauce
  • 10 grams Fresh basil leaves

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and almond milk. Let them sit for a few minutes until the breadcrumbs absorb the milk.

Step 3

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef and ground pork.

Step 4

Add the soaked breadcrumb mixture, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the meat mixture. Mix well until fully combined.

Step 5

Take a golf ball-sized portion of the meat mixture and flatten it in your palm.

Step 6

Place a small amount (about 1 teaspoon) of dairy-free shredded mozzarella cheese in the center of the flattened meat.

Step 7

Carefully fold the meat around the cheese, forming a ball, ensuring the cheese is completely enclosed. Repeat with the remaining meat mixture.

Step 8

In a large ovenproof skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

Step 9

Add the meatballs to the skillet and brown them on all sides, about 5 minutes in total.

Step 10

Pour the tomato sauce over the meatballs, ensuring they are mostly covered.

Step 11

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve warm.
