Ingredients

  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 cup Vegetable oil
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 Egg yolk (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon Water (for egg wash)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

Step 2

In another bowl, whisk together the remaining sugar, flour, and salt.

Step 3

To the yeast mixture, add the vegetable oil and eggs, and mix well.

Step 4

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.

Step 5

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 7

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 8

After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a small roll.

Step 9

Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them. Cover and let them rise for an additional 20-30 minutes.

Step 10

In a small bowl, beat the egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of water to create the egg wash. Brush the top of each roll with the egg wash.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Step 12

Allow the rolls to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
