Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.5 cup Coconut oil, solid
  • 0.75 cup Unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 pound Ground pork sausage
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.25 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Unsweetened almond milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.75 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 0.5 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon sugar.

Step 3

Add 0.5 cup solid coconut oil to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the coconut oil into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Gradually stir in 0.75 cup unsweetened almond milk until the dough comes together. Avoid over-mixing.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times until smooth. Roll the dough out to about 1-inch thickness.

Step 6

Use a round cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside to cool.

Step 8

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, crumble 1 pound ground pork sausage and cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Step 9

Add 0.5 teaspoon onion powder and 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder to the sausage and stir well.

Step 10

Sprinkle 0.25 cup flour over the cooked sausage and stir to coat. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Step 11

Gradually whisk in 2 cups unsweetened almond milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble.

Step 12

Season the gravy with 0.5 teaspoon salt and 0.75 teaspoon black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Step 13

Serve the warm biscuits smothered with the sausage gravy.
