Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 300 grams lean beef steak
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup fresh arugula
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 medium avocado
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 0.25 cup dairy-free mayonnaise
  • 6 slices whole grain bread

Directions

Step 1

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Season the beef steak on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 3

Once the oil is hot, add the steak to the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until desired doneness is reached.

Step 4

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.

Step 5

While the steak is resting, cook the bacon slices in another skillet over medium heat until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.

Step 6

Toast the slices of whole grain bread until golden brown.

Step 7

Slice the tomato into thin rounds and the avocado into thin slices.

Step 8

To assemble each sandwich, spread a layer of dairy-free mayonnaise on one side of each of the three slices of toasted bread.

Step 9

Place a handful of arugula on the first slice, followed by slices of the cooked beef and two slices of bacon.

Step 10

Add a layer of sliced tomatoes and avocado on top of the beef.

Step 11

Top with the second slice of bread with mayonnaise side facing down, then repeat the layering process starting with arugula followed by beef and bacon.

Step 12

Crown with the third slice of bread, mayonnaise side facing down.

Step 13

Press down gently on the sandwich and insert toothpicks to hold it together.

Step 14

Using a sharp knife, cut the sandwich into quarters diagonally and serve immediately.
