Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Chicken legs or thighs
  • 4 Garlic cloves
  • 3 Shallots
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut aminos or soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut oil

Directions

Step 1

Start by preparing the marinade: Peel the garlic and shallots. Roughly chop the garlic, shallots, and ginger, and place them in a blender or food processor.

Step 2

Add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, black pepper, coconut aminos, and lime juice to the blender. Blend until you have a smooth paste.

Step 3

Place the chicken in a large bowl or a zip-top bag and pour the marinade over it. Ensure each piece of chicken is thoroughly coated with the marinade. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. For best results, marinate overnight.

Step 4

Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C).

Step 5

Take the marinated chicken out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before cooking.

Step 6

Brush or lightly coat the chicken pieces with coconut oil.

Step 7

Place the chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

Step 8

Cook the chicken for 25 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crisping. The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) when done.

Step 9

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Step 10

Serve the Ayam with steamed rice and sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
