Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 cup Water
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

Step 3

Stir in the tomato paste, smoked paprika, ground cumin, and chili powder. Cook for 1-2 minutes to toast the spices and develop flavor.

Step 4

Add the honey, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and water. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Step 5

Season with salt, black pepper, and, if desired, red pepper flakes for extra heat.

Step 6

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low and let it cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more honey for sweetness or vinegar for tang if desired.

Step 8

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool slightly before transferring to a jar or container.

Step 9

Serve immediately as a dip, drizzle, or marinade, or store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
