Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Deer steak
  • 2 cups Cooked white rice
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • 2 stalks Green onion
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

Pat the deer steak dry with paper towels. Cut into thin strips, approximately 1/2-inch thick.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the deer steak strips.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and swirl to coat the pan.

Step 4

Once the oil is hot, add the deer steak strips to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until browned. Remove the steak to a plate and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the remaining olive oil along with the butter. Allow the butter to melt thoroughly.

Step 6

Stir in the soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of water, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the sauce simmer for 1 minute.

Step 7

Return the cooked deer steak strips to the skillet, tossing them in the sauce. Let cook for another 2-3 minutes or until the steak is heated through and coated in the sauce.

Step 8

While the steak finishes cooking, prepare your serving plates with 1 cup of cooked white rice on each plate.

Step 9

Spoon the pepper deer steak strips over the rice, making sure to pour any extra sauce from the skillet on top.

Step 10

Garnish with finely sliced green onions for a fresh pop of flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy!
