Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Rinse the duck inside and out under cold water. Pat it completely dry with paper towels.
Use a sharp knife to score the duck's skin in a diamond pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat. This will help render the fat during cooking.
Season the duck evenly with salt and pepper, both inside and out.
Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan, breast side up. Roast in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
While the duck is roasting, prepare the honey glaze. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, orange juice, and rice vinegar. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture is well blended. Remove from heat and set aside.
After the first hour of roasting, remove the duck from the oven. Carefully drain any rendered fat from the roasting pan (save it for another use, if desired).
Brush the duck generously with the honey glaze. Return it to the oven and roast for another 30 minutes, basting with the glaze every 10 minutes.
After 30 minutes, increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and roast for an additional 30 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F (74°C). Continue basting with the glaze every 10 minutes.
Remove the duck from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
Garnish the duck with sliced scallions and sesame seeds before serving. Pair with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables or steamed rice.
