Ingredients

  • 14 oz Sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 0.25 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 cups Chopped nuts (optional: walnuts or pecans)

Directions

Step 1

Line an 8x8 inch square pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the parchment or foil with butter or non-stick spray.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter.

Step 3

Place the saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly with a silicone spatula or wooden spoon until the chocolate and butter are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Be careful not to overheat to avoid scorching.

Step 4

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt until well incorporated.

Step 5

If adding chopped nuts, fold them into the fudge mixture at this point.

Step 6

Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.

Step 7

Let the fudge cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then transfer it to the refrigerator to set completely, about 2 hours.

Step 8

Once the fudge is firm, lift it out of the pan using the parchment or foil overhang and place it on a cutting board.

Step 9

Cut the fudge into small squares (approximately 1-inch pieces) using a sharp knife.

Step 10

Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. Serve and enjoy!
