Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe bananas
  • 115 grams unsalted butter
  • 150 grams granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 250 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 100 grams optional chopped walnuts or chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth using a fork or potato masher.

Step 3

Melt the unsalted butter in the microwave or on the stovetop, then add it to the mashed bananas. Mix well.

Step 4

Stir in the granulated sugar, eggs, and pure vanilla extract until fully combined and smooth.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt to ensure even distribution of the dry ingredients.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet banana mixture. Gently fold the batter together until no streaks of flour remain. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 7

If desired, fold in the optional chopped walnuts or chocolate chips at this stage.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Start checking for doneness at the 55-minute mark to prevent overbaking.

Step 10

Remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Step 11

Enjoy a slice warm or at room temperature, plain or with your favorite spread!
