Ingredients

  • 6 whole Apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 0.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 0.75 cups Old-fashioned oats
  • 0.75 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar, packed
  • 0.5 cups Butter, unsalted and melted
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.

Step 2

Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin slices. Place the slices in a mixing bowl.

Step 3

Add the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice to the apples. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.

Step 4

Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out in an even layer.

Step 5

In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Mix well to incorporate.

Step 6

Pour the melted butter and vanilla extract over the oat mixture. Stir until the topping forms a crumbly texture.

Step 7

Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let the apple crisp cool slightly before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
