Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup Warm water
  • 3.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 as needed Nonstick cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons Extra melted butter

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, heat the milk, sugar, and butter over low-medium heat until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool to about 105–110°F (lukewarm).

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the warm water and active dry yeast. Stir lightly and let it sit for 5–10 minutes, or until it becomes foamy.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk mixture and the yeast mixture. Beat in the eggs until well combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing with a wooden spoon or a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, until the dough comes together into a sticky mass.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer to knead for about 5 minutes on medium speed.

Step 6

Place the dough in a large bowl coated with nonstick cooking spray. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm, draft-free spot for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 7

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball by pinching the bottom together and rolling it in your hands.

Step 8

Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and arrange the dough balls evenly inside, leaving a bit of space between them for expansion.

Step 9

Cover the baking dish with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise a second time for 30–40 minutes, or until the rolls have doubled in size.

Step 10

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 11

Bake the rolls for 15–18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the rolls sound hollow when tapped.

Step 12

Brush the tops of the hot rolls with melted butter for a glossy finish and extra flavor.

Step 13

Serve warm and enjoy!
