Ingredients

  • 12 ounces canned tuna (drained)
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 4 pieces bread slices
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons green onions (chopped, optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the broiler on your oven to high or set your oven to 450°F.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, curry powder, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and green onions (if using). Mix well until fully combined.

Step 3

Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.

Step 4

Place the bread slices, butter-side down, on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil.

Step 5

Evenly divide the tuna mixture and spread it on the unbuttered side of each bread slice.

Step 6

Top each tuna-covered slice with a generous amount of shredded cheese.

Step 7

Place the baking sheet under the broiler or in the preheated oven. Broil or bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is thoroughly melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bread are golden brown.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Step 9

Serve the curried tuna melts warm, optionally garnished with additional chopped green onions.
