Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Cuban bread or French baguette
  • 3 tablespoons Yellow mustard
  • 6 slices Sliced Swiss cheese
  • 8 slices Thinly sliced cooked ham
  • 1 cup Roast pork
  • 6 slices Sliced dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter

Directions

Step 1

Cut the Cuban bread or French baguette into 4 equal sandwich-sized portions. Slice each portion horizontally in half to create a top and bottom piece.

Step 2

Spread 1 to 2 teaspoons of yellow mustard on the inner sides of each bread half.

Step 3

On the bottom half of each sandwich, layer a slice of Swiss cheese, 2 slices of ham, a generous amount of roast pork, 2 slices of dill pickles, and another slice of Swiss cheese.

Step 4

Place the top half of the bread on each sandwich to form the Cuban toasties.

Step 5

Heat a skillet or sandwich press over medium heat. Spread a thin layer of butter on the outside of each sandwich—both the top and the bottom.

Step 6

If using a skillet, press the sandwich with a heavy object (like a cast iron pan or wrapped brick) as it cooks to flatten it slightly. Cook each side for about 3 to 4 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted inside. If using a sandwich press, cook for 6 to 8 minutes total until crispy and heated through.

Step 7

Remove the sandwiches from the heat and let them cool for a minute before cutting each in half diagonally for serving.

Step 8

Serve warm and enjoy your crispy Cuban Toasties!
