Directions

Step 1

Peel the fresh ginger root and slice it into thin, uniform slices (about 1/8 inch thick).

Place the ginger slices into a saucepan and cover them with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes to soften the ginger.

Drain the ginger slices and return them to the saucepan.

Add 500 milliliters of fresh water and 300 grams of granulated sugar to the saucepan to create a syrup.
