Ingredients

  • 3 cups Mixed nuts (cashews, almonds, pecans, walnuts, or your choice)
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sea salt
  • 1 Zest of one lime
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated sugar (optional, for extra crunch)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the honey or maple syrup, lime juice, chili powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, cayenne pepper (if using), and sea salt. Mix until fully combined and remove from heat.

Step 3

Place the mixed nuts in a large mixing bowl. Pour the spiced butter mixture over the nuts and toss until they are evenly coated.

Step 4

Spread the coated nuts evenly on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.

Step 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the nuts are golden and fragrant. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

Step 6

Remove the nuts from the oven and immediately sprinkle the lime zest and optional granulated sugar over the top, tossing to combine.

Step 7

Let the nuts cool completely on the baking sheet before serving. They will become crunchier as they cool.

Step 8

Store the spiced nuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
