Ingredients

  • 4 pieces croissants
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup raisins (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a medium-sized baking dish.

Step 2

Cut the croissants into 1-inch pieces and place them into the baking dish, spreading them out evenly. If using raisins, sprinkle them over the croissants.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and butter. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the butter melts and the sugars dissolve. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Step 5

Slowly pour the slightly cooled milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.

Step 6

Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants, pressing down lightly with a spatula to ensure the croissants soak up the custard.

Step 7

Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the croissants to fully absorb the custard.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the pudding is golden brown on top and set in the center.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Dust with powdered sugar before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.
