Ingredients

  • 12 pieces mozzarella balls
  • 6 pieces pitted black olives
  • 6 pieces small cherry tomatoes
  • 6 leaves fresh basil leaves
  • 12 pieces toothpicks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Slice each black olive in half to create 12 olive halves. Set aside.

Step 2

Slice the cherry tomatoes in half, creating 12 small halves as well.

Step 3

Take the mozzarella balls and pat them dry with a paper towel.

Step 4

To assemble the eyeballs, place one olive half on top of each mozzarella ball to resemble a pupil. Press gently so it sticks.

Step 5

Place a cherry tomato half on the opposite side of the mozzarella ball to add color and balance to the 'eye.'

Step 6

Tear the basil leaves in half or into smaller pieces, depending on the size, and layer one piece under each eyeball for an added decorative (and tasty) touch.

Step 7

Use a toothpick to hold the layers together. Push the toothpick all the way through the basil, mozzarella ball, olive, and cherry tomato so they stay connected.

Step 8

Drizzle the assembled crocodile eyeballs with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 9

Serve them on a platter and enjoy the spooky presentation. They're best enjoyed fresh!
