Ingredients

  • 1 cup Stone-ground grits
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1.5 cups Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions, chopped (optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Spray the inside of a crockpot with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Step 2

Add the stone-ground grits, water, chicken broth, heavy cream, butter, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the crockpot. Stir them together until combined.

Set the crockpot to low heat and cover it with the lid. Let the mixture cook for 4 hours, stirring every hour to prevent the grits from clumping or sticking to the sides.
